MEET THE KINGS AND QUEENS OF SPOKEN WORD

In the world of spoken word, they have rulers just like in the conventional world. In this article, I will unveil guys who have almost perfect lyrics. They are the superlatives. Mind you, just like I always say, you might get to meet very good guys who are not in the list below, that doesn't mean they are not good enough, but they are not just in my list yet.

Let's define what these guys do.

Spoken word is an oral art that focuses on the aesthetics of word play and intonation and voice inflection. It is a 'catchall' which includes any kind of poetry recited aloud, including hip hop, jazz poetry, poetry slams, traditional poetry readings and can include comedy routines and 'prose monologues'.

Take your time to digest the meaning of that to really appreciate the meaning.

These guys are numerous I must confess, so you will have to take your time to know them. 
 
 Kate Tempest is an English poet, musical artist and playwright. In 2013, she won the Ted Hughes Award for her work Brand New Ancients. She was named a Next Generation Poet by the Poetry Society, a once-a-decade accolade. Her albums Everybody Down and Let Them Eat Chaos have been nominated for the Mercury .






Andrea Gibson is an American poet and activist from Calais, Maine, who has lived in Boulder, Colorado, since 1999. Gibson's poetry focuses on gender norms, politics, social reform, and the struggles LGBTQ people face in today's society.

George Mpanga (born 14 January 1991), better known by his stage name George the Poet, is a British spoken-word artist with an interest in social and political issues.
 
 
 
 Darryll Suliaman Amoako (born 22 January 1988), better known by his stage name Suli Breaks, is an English spoken word poet. He is best known for his spoken word videos on his YouTube channel sulibreezy. He is best known for his 2012 video "Why I Hate School but Love Education" and his 2013 video "I Will Not Let an Exam Result Decide My Fate."


 
Richard Williams, better known by his stage name Prince Ea, is an American spoken word artist, poet, and filmmaker.

 Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus is a viral video created by Christian speaker Jefferson Bethke, who uploaded his work that rose him to fame onto YouTube and GodTube, under the screen name bball1989. The video has thus far received more than 31.1 million views.
 
 
 
 
 
 Kyle Tran Myhre (born January 23, 1983), better known by his stage name Guante, is an American hip hop recordings artist, National slam poet Champion (2008-2009), activist, and educator based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 
 
J. Ivy is an American performance poet, spoken word artist, recording artist, and author. He is a three-time HBO Def Poet and has earned a Grammy Award for his performance on Kanye West’s debut album The College Dropout.

Lemon Andersen is an American poet, spoken word artist and actor. He is sometimes credited as Lemon. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he still resides there.
 
Suzi Q. Smith is an American poet, spoken word artist and activist. She began writing poetry in her elementary years and by high school was participating in poetry readings and poetry slams.
